AFUE-rated Models
AFUE-rated fireplaces are listed as furnaces with the testing body (UL), and are tested to a standard that projects the product's Steady State Thermal Efficiency over a year's worth of normal operation, and are verified against the U.S. Department of Energy's minimum efficiency requirements. The fireplaces can be used in the official heat calculations for a home. These products can duct heat to other parts of a home.

Heater-rated Models
Though not considered furnaces, Heater-Rated models are highly efficient fireplaces that can be used for zone-heating purposes in the home. The product can duct heat to other parts of the home.

Decorative Appliances
Although there is heat output produced with these units, they are not tested to any heating listings and cannot be heat ducted.

Zone Heating
Climate control technology provides homeowners with the option to redirect heat output to other areas of the home, improving heating efficiency.

Heat-Zone technology is used to transfer excess heat from the fireplace to another location in the home, allowing homeowners to turn down the furnace and reduce overall heating costs while heating only the most frequently occupied rooms in the house. Heat-Zone uses flexible ducting to transfer heat to another location and finishes it off with a standard floor grate. Heat-Zone uses its own fan system to draw the air from around the firebox and push it into its designated area, making our fireplace a flexible and convenient heat source for more than one room.

Heat-Duct technology directs a large portion of the heat away from the fireplace and directly into the home's cold air return ducting for the furnace. This reduces the fireplace's heat output when homeowners don't want it and returns it through the furnace, improving its efficiency.
